Welcome Spring with Meadow the meadowlark. It is all about fabric placement. Meadow combines courthouse steps log cabin blocks in a variety of colorways to create this stunning quilt. A few of the blocks are modified by adding triangles and even a prairie-point to enhance the design. The eye is created by starting with a half-square triangle for the center square.

Since each round of logs is trimmed before the next round is added, perfection is guaranteed.

Tip: Eliminate the math by cutting the strips using the line down the center of any of the Creative Grids 2-1/2 inch wide rectangles. This white line is at the 1-1/4 inch mark, the width of the strips needed to make this block.

Creative Grids 4" Log Cabin Time Tool Ruler:

The 4 inch Log Cabin Trim Tool features exclusive markings to create perfect four inch finished Log Cabin; Half Log Cabin; or Courthouse Steps blocks. After adding each round of “logs”, place the appropriate centering square on the tool over the center square of the block and trim. Since each round is squared up before the next set of logs are added, the results are spectacular. The cutting instructions for the strip width and center square are printed right on the tool!

Creative Grids Quilt Ruler 2.50" x 24.5"

This 2-1/2 x 24-1/2 inch rectangle ruler is the perfect size! It fits cleanly on your mat without any overhang, and cutting directly off the bolt has never been easier! The ruler features easy-to-read black and white markings printed in 1 inch grids marked in 1/8 and 1/4 inch increments. Use the easy-to-read, black numbers (printed on white dots) and the 1/4 inch grip sides to cut whole inches. The 1/4 inch dashed lines printed on two adjoining sides aid in trimming seam allowances. Use the patented Turn-A-Round feature, designated by the easy to read, numerical white numbers (printed on black dots) and the 1/2 inch grip sides, to add the 1/2 inch seam allowance. Use the white 45 degree angle to trim half-square triangles in whole inch increments. Use the black 45 degree angle to trim half-square triangles in half inch increments. An additional black 45 degree line is placed so that they cross 1/4 inch away from the outside edge. Use these markings to square up flying geese units and squares set on point. The ruler also features a 30 degree/60 degree angle. White horizontal and vertical lines are printed on the rectangle so the center of the ruler is easily distinguishable. Use these lines to fussy cut stripes and borders.

The ruler slides easily over the fabric until pressure is applied. Then, our exclusive gripper holds the fabric in place while cutting, eliminating slipping and miss-cuts!
